Who we are
Flick is an iOS app for sorting through your photo library. It is published by Cosmos Platform Ltd, which is the data controller for the purposes of UK data protection law. Questions about this policy can be sent to jramini12@gmail.com.
Summary
- Flick does not collect any data. We never receive your photos or anything you do in the app.
- There is no account, sign-in or registration.
- The app contains no analytics, advertising or tracking code.
- The only thing it sends anywhere is a place name or a map position to Apple Maps, to name places. Never a photo.
- Your choices about which photos to keep or bin are stored only on your device.
Photos
Flick asks for access to your photo library so it can show your photos and videos as cards. Photos are read and displayed on your device and are never uploaded or copied out of your library.
Flick changes your library only when you ask it to. Swiping up marks a photo as a favourite in the Photos app. Swiping left puts a photo in Flick's bin, and nothing is deleted until you tap Delete in the Bin tab and confirm the system prompt. Deleted items go to Recently Deleted in the Photos app, where you can recover them for 30 days.
Places and Apple Maps
Flick groups photos into trips, days out and nights out using the date and location saved with each photo. To name a trip or day out, Flick sends the centre point of that group of photos to Apple Maps and gets back a place name, such as a town. When you ask Rara for photos from a place, Flick sends the place name you typed to Apple Maps to find it on the map. Flick never sends photos, and Apple handles these lookups under the Apple privacy policy. We never receive them.
Rara and Apple Intelligence
On iPhones with Apple Intelligence, you can ask Rara to find or organise photos. Your message is read by Apple's language model on your iPhone, and the search runs on your iPhone too. Nothing you type to Rara is sent to us.
Posts
When you make a post, Flick saves copies of the chosen photos to a new album in your photo library, with the location removed unless you turn that option off. Flick doesn't post anything itself: you share the photos to Instagram, TikTok or anywhere else yourself, and those apps' own privacy policies apply.
Data stored on your device
Flick keeps a list of your decisions (an identifier for each photo, whether you kept, binned or favourited it, and when) plus your settings, in the app's private storage on your device. We never receive this information. It is included in your own iCloud or computer backups if you have backups turned on; those backups are handled by Apple or stored on your computer, not by us. Deleting the app removes this data.
Children
Flick is suitable for all ages. Because it collects no personal information from anyone, it collects none from children.
This website
This website is hosted by Vercel. Like any web server, Vercel may keep standard request logs (such as IP address, time and page requested) for a limited period to run and secure the service. We do not use cookies, analytics or tracking on this site. See the Vercel privacy policy.
Your rights
Because we hold no personal data about you from the app, there is nothing for us to access, correct or delete on our side. You have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Changes
If the app ever starts handling data differently, we will update this page and the date above before that version is released.
